This Refund Policy (the “Policy”) sets out how requests regarding refunds, erroneous charges, incomplete transactions, duplicate charges, and chargebacks are handled within ThanksForDonation (https://thanksfordonation.com).
The Policy is an integral part of the Public Offer. By making a Donation, the User confirms they have read and accept this Policy.
Core principles: (1) a Donation is a voluntary payment made free of any counter-performance; (2) once confirmed by the Payment Partner, a Donation is generally final and non-refundable; (3) exceptions are reviewed individually where objective grounds and technical feasibility exist.
1. General rule: voluntary nature of donations
1.1. A Donation is not a distance purchase of goods or services from the Operator. Accordingly, “14-day withdrawal” and similar retail consumer mechanisms generally do not apply to a Donation as a voluntary support transfer.
1.2. A change of mind after successful payment, dissatisfaction with stream content, lack of a Recipient reply, non-display of a message, notification delay, or subjective expectations are not, by themselves, grounds for a refund.
1.3. Payment success is determined solely by the confirmation the Operator receives from the Payment Partner. A success message shown in the Website interface is informational; final accounting of the payment is based on the Payment Partner’s data.
2. Cases that may be reviewed
2.1. The Operator may review a refund/cancellation request in the following exceptional cases:
(a) duplicate charging of the same operation for a technical reason, supported by bank documents/statements;
(b) funds were charged but, according to the Payment Partner, the transaction is not confirmed as successful (it was cancelled or failed) and is refundable under the partner’s rules;
(c) a technical failure on the side of the Operator or the Payment Partner, confirmed upon review, as a result of which funds were charged without proper completion of the operation;
(d) other cases expressly required by mandatory applicable law.
2.2. The following are not sufficient grounds for a refund: a typo in nickname/message; selecting the wrong Recipient by the Supporter’s mistake; the Recipient’s refusal to interact; moderation hiding/deleting a message; temporary unavailability of the Recipient page after payment.
3. How to submit a request
3.1. Submit a request to legal@thanksfordonation.com, via the contact form on https://thanksfordonation.com/, or another channel indicated by the Operator.
3.2. Include: date and approximate time of payment; amount and currency; nickname used; a link to the Recipient’s page (if applicable); payment method; payment identifier (if known); a description of the problem; supporting materials (a bank statement or certificate, screenshots).
3.3. The Operator may request additional information needed for verification. Failure to provide information within a reasonable time may result in denial.
3.4. Initial response/review period: generally up to ten (10) business days after a complete set of information is received. The period may be extended where verification depends on the Payment Partner, issuing bank, or other third parties.
4. Possible outcomes
4.1. Following review, the Operator may: deny a refund; initiate a refund/cancellation via the Payment Partner (if available); propose alternative resolution; correct internal accounting for a technical crediting error.
4.2. If approved, a refund is made by the same method used for payment, or another method under Payment Partner rules. Arrival time depends on the Supporter’s bank and payment systems and may take from several days to several settlement cycles.
4.3. Fees already charged by banks, networks, and the Payment Partner may be non-refundable.
4.4. If the donation amount has already been paid out to the Recipient, a refund to the Supporter may be unavailable or require separate settlement. The Operator does not guarantee a refund in such cases.
5. Chargebacks and bank disputes
5.1. The Supporter may contact the issuing bank under bank procedures. However, for voluntary Donations, a chargeback without grounds under this Policy may be contested by the Operator and the Payment Partner.
5.2. Upon a chargeback (payment dispute), the Operator may: freeze the related amounts on the Recipient’s Internal Balance; request explanations from the Recipient and the Supporter; provide the Payment Partner with evidence of the voluntary nature of the payment and its proper processing by the Service.
5.3. If the dispute is lost and amounts are debited from the Operator/merchant, corresponding amounts may be recovered from the Recipient’s balance and/or future credits, or otherwise as permitted by law.
5.4. Systematic unjustified chargebacks may result in restricted Service access.
6. Incomplete payments
6.1. If a payment was not completed (cancelled, declined, or failed), the Service informs the Supporter via the corresponding page. In that case, funds are generally not charged, or the charge is automatically reversed under the Payment Partner’s rules.
6.2. If the Supporter still sees a hold or charge in their banking app, they should wait for the operation’s final status (the hold may be released by the bank automatically) and, if the charge remains, follow the procedure in Section 3 attaching a bank statement.
7. Final provisions
7.1. The Operator may update this Policy by publishing a new revision at https://thanksfordonation.com/refund with the revision date. Continued use of the Service after publication constitutes acceptance of the new revision.
7.2. If translations conflict, the English version prevails, unless mandatory applicable law requires otherwise.
7.3. Matters not covered by this Policy are governed by the Public Offer and the Payment Partner’s rules.
